Winter Wonderland a message from Principal, Mr. Gray.
The lights and magic of Christmas were truly evident in Sacred Heart Primary School. The collective effort of staff and parents ensured that the pupils attending had a real Christmas experience.
This idea was spearheaded by the school's Home School Liaison Officer Rebecca Small, together with the Deputy Principal Carmel Shaughnessy, who set about planning and executing a fun-filled festive evening.
Huge credit goes to our former Principal Marett Smith who transformed the school's Sensory Garden and Outdoor Classroom with Christmas lights and decor. She also turned on the lights for the evening.
The event got underway in the school hall, where the pupils and adults received a hot chocolate before they departed into the Winter Wonderland to meet "Snowball" the Shetland pony, and of course the main man of the evening Santa Claus. Pupils in the school's Rainbow and Sunshine autism classes were the first ones to witness the special experience. The spirit of Christmas was truly shining through.
I wish to express my sincere thanks to all the parents and staff who helped out on the night. A special mention to Claire and Pat Nannery for bringing "Snowball" along, to Lisa Connolly for creating the balloon arch, Granard Mens' Shed for the signposts, and Padraig McGauran for the Winter Wonderland Wooden sign. Lissette Carcamo was on site to take photographs of the pupils visiting Santa. Special thanks to Turlough McGovern who had a direct line to the North Pole to ensure Karen Stakem and Santa Claus made a visit to Sacred Heart.
