Throughout the year our HSCL facilitates a number of Maths for Fun workshops. These workshops have been developed to instil a love of mathematical concepts in children. Maths for Fun aims to give children an opportunity to apply mathematical concepts that they have learned in school in a fun and relaxed but structured way.
Children and parents form small groups and play simple Maths games together. It gives parents an opportunity to share special time together at school with their children.
The Maths for Fun collaborative learning initiative is designed and structured to address the following aims.
- To meet the needs of the pupils through hands on work and parental involvement.
- To break down the fear barrier some pupils may have towards Mathematics by bringing fun and variety into the learning process.
- To empower parents to engage meaningfully in the learning process of young people.
