3rd and 4th class had great fun taking part in the STEPS Young Engineers Programme in Term 1. The children were divided up into teams of 6 and worked together to come up with engineering projects that would help to improve some aspect of the local community. The process involved a planning, designing and problem-solving stage before each group then made actual prototypes of their ideas. It was brilliant to see such creativity and imagination from the children in both their original ideas and also the materials they used to construct their finished prototypes. Finally, the groups presented their projects to the rest of the children and outlined how their invention would work and how it would benefit the local community. Each group completed a project book that detailed all of their hard work and these were submitted as part of the STEPS Young Engineers Award Competition.
