Welcome
Sacred Heart Primary School in Granard is a DEIS Band 1 school situated in Barrack St., Granard. Our school has presently 245 pupils enrolled, with a staff of 21 teachers including 2 EAL teachers, 5 Special Education Teachers and a Home School Liaison Teacher.
At Sacred Heart Primary School, we are dedicated to nurturing both the academic and emotional development of every child. Led by Principal Mr. Francis Gray and Deputy Principal Ms. Carmel Shaughnessy, our school offers a warm, inclusive environment where all pupils can thrive.
We proudly participate in the First Steps English Programme and the Incredible Years Programme, promoting strong literacy skills and social-emotional learning. Our Home School Liaison teacher works closely with families to support a smooth transition into school life and runs parent-friendly initiatives like Maths for Fun and Shared Reading.
Wellbeing is central to our ethos, highlighted by our annual Wellbeing Week and a strong Personal Development programme. We also offer full access to an educational psychologist through NEPS at no cost to parents.
Innovative learning is encouraged through initiatives like the “Lego We Do” Digital Excellence Programme for sixth class students. We are also proud to support children with autism through our dedicated Rainbow Classroom and newly opened Early Intervention and second special classes.
Our Homework Club provides structured support after school, and we aim to keep education affordable through a free Book Rental Scheme and daily hot meals via our School Meals Programme.
At Sacred Heart, every child is supported, included, and inspired to reach their full potential.
